BOOKING
INFORMATION
“Thank you for
bringing your ‘girls’ to Saint Olaf
College. They were a BIG hit and many people--young and
old--appreciated the girls' commentaries. I hope others will want to
‘entertain’ them in museums, churches and schools around the
country.”
--Mac Gimse
Professor Emeritus Sculptor & Art Historian
Exhibitions
of “Seen but Rarely Heard: Voices of Adolescent Girls” are
offered for four week periods, with longer bookings by arrangement. A
sliding-scale rental fee covers all organizational costs including
insurance. The borrower is responsible for transportation expenses. The
borrower further agrees to notify the Laura Gentry immediately of any
theft or damage while the exhibition is in its possession. The
installation of the exhibition is the responsibility of the
exhibitor—simple installation instructions are included in the shipment.
The
contract, when completed and signed, is a binding agreement between the
Laura Gentry and the borrowing institution. Access to exhibitions shall
not be denied to anyone on the basis of race, color, origin, handicap
or age. If an exhibition is canceled after a contract has been signed,
the exhibitor is responsible for fifty percent of the exhibit rental
fee. If the cancellation is within ninety (90) days of the opening date
stated in the contract, the exhibitor is responsible for the entire
rental fee. All cancellation notices must be made in writing.
A deposit fee of 25% of the total cost is
required with the signed
contract and the balance is due within thirty (30) days of receipt of
the exhibit. Condition report forms are supplied in the crates and must
be completed upon receipt of the exhibition and prior to packing the
exhibition for its next venue. Click here for a press kit, which
includes a press release, photographs suitable for newspaper
reproduction, and downloadable publicity poster. More information
is available upon request. Two copies of any publicity and/or catalogs
published by the exhibitor should be mailed to Laura Gentry.
Exhibitions
which require commercial shipping are arranged with FedEx.
Borrower is responsible to arrange a FedEx pick-up in order to ship to
the next exhibitor as per shipping instructions. Non-receipt of
materials should be reported to the Laura Gentry within 24 hours of
expected shipment arrival.
No repairs can be made to art work
without prior explicit permission
from Laura Gentry. For the protection of the Exhibit, and to conform to
insurance regulations, the borrower agrees to provide fire precautions
according to local regulations, protection from theft and care in
unpacking, handling, and repacking of the exhibition. The exhibit
should be supervised at all times it is open to the public. Objects may
be photographed for publicity and condition reports only. Special
permission must be obtained in writing for any other reproduction
purpose.
A signed contract must be received by
Laura Gentry before shipment of

“Thank you so much for allowing ‘the
girls’ to visit us in
September. They seemed to be part of our church community and I
think we felt younger this month.”
--Kate Hawkins

“I truly believe that your exhibit
sparked a lively discussion among
our members, particularly, the youth of our congregation.”

PRESENTATION
INFORMATION
“Thank
you for being a keynote speaker for our conference. Be assured
that your lecture and workshops were of great learning value to all
that attended.”
--Karen A. Woods, MSW
Michigan Gender Specific Task Force
In order to
provoke even more conversation, you may consider bringing
the artist, Laura Gentry, to give a multi-media lecture, lead workshops
or choreograph a dance in conjunction with the exhibit. Fees are
arranged on a sliding scale.
Lecture
In a 60-minute,
multi-media lecture for all ages,
plus a question and answer time, Laura will address various topics
related to adolescent girls (and women of all ages) including an
explanation of lessons learned in the creation of this exhibit, the
influence of the media upon self-esteem, techniques for diffusing the
media’s power over us, an exploration of body image issues, interactive
exercises to explore these topics and a variety of tools for building
self-confidence in girls and women. Particulars of the lecture or
workshop will be arranged in advance to suit the intended audience for
your event.
Contact Laura to book a lecture.
Workshops
“Thank you so much for the wonderful,
thought-provoking workshop that you led. There have been many
positive comments.”
--Barb Taylor, Cedar Rapids, Iowa
In a
60-minute workshop for girls-only, boys-only,
mother/daughter groups, father/daughter groups, or another type of
group, Laura will lead participants through a number of interactive
exercises designed to get people talking about core
issues--particularly ones relating to self confidence--and thinking
creatively about solutions to the challenges.
Large groups will require additional
staff or volunteer assistants, as
per arrangement.
Contact Laura to book a workshop.
Dance
Choreography
Using
movement exercises and questions about teenage experience, Laura
will enable participants to express themselves, to make their voices
heard
through dance.
No dance experience is necessary, simply
a desire to explore issues
through words and movement. Together, participants will choreograph a
dance
that can be performed for an audience at an event scheduled by your
institution.
The rehearsal times may vary, depending
upon the number of participants
and the desired length of the performance concert.
